The Edmonton Immigrant Services Association (EISA) was established by a group of five individuals on December 16, 1976, under the Societies Act as a non-profit society. EISA is a direct result of an awareness that the total needs of immigrants and refugees to Edmonton and area were not being met. The founders recognized the unexpected realities of life for newcomers significantly affected the lives of these people and their integration into Canada. The services were to be provided to immigrants and refugees in Edmonton and area, regardless of age, gender, religion, nationality or ethnic origin.
